Vic Venturi

Grand National Contenders 2012 - Vic Venturi

Vic Venturi is an interesting contender for the 2012 Grand National at Aintree, he ran in the race last but unseated his jockey when well backed and we expect him to be back and in with a chance in 2011. He is another contender from the Dessie Hughes yard and along with Black Apalachi they will be going for a two pronged assault on the race once more in 2011.

Vic Venturi Grand National 2012 Odds

Venturi was the slightly more fancied of the two in 2010 race but he was brought down at just the third fence to leave his ambitions in tatters, he was unlucky on the day but that means he should be given another chance to run his race this time around. He loves Aintree as he showed in winning the Becher Chase last season so will have no fear in attacking the fences if he needs to.

As well as winning the Becher Chase last season, Vic Venturi also won the Bobbyjo Chase at Leopardstown, in the renowned Grand National trial he beat Black Apalachi in some style so he is clearly a horse with class over the National trip.

Dessie Hughes and connections think very highly of him and he will be an interesting horse to follow through the season as we build up to the National in April, he will be 11 years-old which means that it could well be his last big chance to claim the race which makes him all the more interesting. It is impossible to judge him on last years run but he looks to have the class needed to win the big one while the trip should not be a problem if he can stay out of trouble this time.
