Grand National 2012 Contenders - Big Fella Thanks
Big Fella Thanks has run in the past two Grand Nationals and if he takes his chance in 2011 he could be ready to make the big step up, in 2009 he came in 6th as a seven year-old and he followed that up in 2010 with a 4th place finish. Each time he has improved and at the age of nine in 2011 he has to have a real chance of running well again, if he can hit top form then he is sure to go off well backed with the bookmakers.

In 2010 he went off as one of the favourites as he went into the race in great form, he ran a really good race and jumped well but perhaps slightly fell away over the final half mile. That will be a slight concern for his backers but he has the experience over the course and distance and he is coming into prime age for a Grand National tilt. The horse is owned by Harry Findley who would love nothing more than to have a Grand National winner, he has had a tough year but will have hip hopes for this type and on top form he has to be a real contender.
It is likely to prove that 2011 will be the best chance for Big Fella Thanks to win the National, he is the right age and with his past runs the statistics tell us he could improve one again. The weight he is awarded will be interesting and possibly crucial to the chances of Big Fella Thanks, he ran in 4th in 2010 off of 10st 12lbs so connections will want to avoid much of a rise if he is to improve once again.
